The essentials on planning a wedding for a Do it yourself wedding, No planner needed.

CHURCH. The most important thing and surely the top priority of all is to choose the church where you want to marry because you will be preparing everything from there, like legal papers, documents and such. As for my wedding I careful chose a Church that already has a conventional function hall. I have problems with my back so I can’t travel that far, hmm I don’t want to reiterate all the details about my back problems.

Moving on…….

Here are some of the papers you will need to process your marriage license/permits:
1. Certificate of No-Marriage (can be requested from City Hall)
2. Marriage License (can be requested from City hall, with 10 days posting)
3. Baptismal Certificate (not older than 3 months)
4. Confirmation Certificate (not older than 3 months)
(Some Church requires Baptismal and Confirmation Certificated with FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES as remarks)
5. Pre-Cana Seminar (ask advice from Parish for scheduling)
6. Cathecism Seminar (ask advice from Parish for scheduling)
7. Banns / Permits (ask advice from Parish)
8. Interview by the Parish Priest
9. List of Sponsors
10. Confession
Sometimes, requirements vary from one Parish to another, basically these are the essentials.

WEDDING DATE. There are 365 existing dates on the calendar. A certain date may be gushy for the other or neither. Make sure you pick a date that is memorable for you both, or…. just maybe meet each other halfway!

CHECKLIST. Hire a wedding coordinator if you don’t want to stress out yourself from planning and doing everything from bits and pieces. If not, make a check list.  Checklists need to be categorized and squeezed in accordance to necessity and value. Make a list of the things needed by the bride, groom, etc.

This was my checklist when I was planning my wedding. I did not have a wedding planner because we wanted a non-costly wedding; I had all the time anyway so I took the privilege of arranging things with my partner.

So I hope this could help those pretty practical bride out there who wishes to do a diy wedding prep.
Note to self: Practicality is beauty :)
